Buckie & District War Memorial

About the Memorial

The Buckie & District War Memorial stands proudly in Cluny Square, at the heart of Buckie, as a solemn tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in two World Wars and later conflicts.

Unveiled in 1925, the memorial has long been a focal point for remembrance, reflection, and community gatherings. It bears the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, ensuring that future generations remember their courage and service.

Over the decades, the memorial has remained a place where families, veterans, and townspeople come together to honour the fallen. Each year, ceremonies are held to mark Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, drawing the community in acts of collective memory.

World War 1

At the Unveiling Memorial Ceremonies in 1925 and 1953 it clearly states it is for those who fell in both wars and belong to BUCKIE and DISTRICT - east, south and west of the town.
